Fazlur Rahman Abdi

interim Head of School

Fazlur Rahman is a dedicated educator, leader, and mentor with over 13 years of experience helping students and teachers reach their highest potential. Currently serving as Interim Head of School, Fazlur has worked in both public and private education, leading teams, refining curriculum, and ensuring that students receive the tools they need to succeed.

With a background as a Head of Department for Mathematics and Testing Coordinator, Fazlur Rahman has made a measurable impact on student achievement. His leadership in redesigning the middle and high school math curriculum boosted test scores by as much as 80 percentage points. He also spearheaded the transition from paper-based to fully digital testing, streamlining operations for both teachers and students.

Outside the administrative office, Fazlur Rahman is a recognized AP Calculus teacher, certified K–12 math educator, and active participant in the national AP Reading Program. Whether guiding educators, engaging families, or delivering guest lectures, he is passionate about building strong, forward-looking school communities.

Muhammad Abdul - Jami

Muhammad Abdul-Jami serves as the Imam of Masjid Al-Islam in Dallas, Texas. A committed member of the community since 2009, he has held various leadership roles, including Treasurer and Sunday School teacher, before stepping into his current role as Imam in 2020. For the past 16 years, he has also led one of the masjid’s flagship outreach initiatives, the Day of Dignity program, which provides essential services to individuals and families in need.

In 1999, Imam Abdul-Jami became the first recipient of a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a certified Secondary Mathematics teacher and a seasoned educator with extensive experience in Dallas ISD. His professional background includes instructional coaching, curriculum development, teacher mentorship, lesson modeling, and student support—contributing to measurable success in public education.

He recently earned a Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies from Bayan and currently serves as the Secondary Academic Dean at the Islamic School of Irving. Imam Abdul-Jami lives in Dallas with his wife and three children.

Massouda Ansari

Massouda Ansari

Head of Islamic Studies Department

Ustadhah Massouda Ansari is the current head of the Islamic Studies department. She holds a BA degree in Usuluddin (Islamic Studies) from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. She is in her 19th year serving as an Islamic Studies and Quran teacher. She has developed the Quran and Islamic Studies Curriculum for the Islamic School of Irving.

Her passion is to influence, inspire and guide the next Muslim generation. She is a strong advocate of Islamic Schools, and believes that Islamic Schools are the main factor in preserving Islamic identity.
Ustadhah Massouda lives with her husband and three children in the United States for the past 28 years.

Anita AbRashid

MATH DEPARTMENT HEAD

Sr. Anita AbRashid has been teaching high school Math for 26 years and her 17-year serving ISI. She has Bachelor Degree in Science Educations, majoring in Math from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and earned her MBA from University of Dallas.

She comes from the family of educators, shared her passion of teaching with her late father, a brother, and a sister.

She loves to create a learning environment with an opportunity to learn and grow in reaching each student’s fullest potential in Math.

Dr Wan Baba

Dr Wan has extensive experience teaching English at the university, community college, and high school levels. She enjoys interacting with students and building long-lasting relationships with them, their parents, and the community. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the UK, an MBA from Indiana University, and a Texas teaching license.

Dr Ziad Eljishi

Dr. Ziad Eljishi was at the Islamic school of Irving back in 2001 and has just returned after 24 years. He has a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Texas and has been working as assistant professor of teacher education at Bahrain Teachers College at the University of Bahrain for the last 4 years. He is currently serving as dean of science and HOD of the science department at ISI, teaching secondary Chemistry and Physics. His interests are in STEAM education and motivating students to be enthusiastic about learning science and making connections between science and Islam.

Fahad Alghamdi

Ustadh Fahad Alghamdi comes from a long tradition of educators. Both his parents are retired educators having spent over 50 years guiding various educational efforts. Having completed his Hifz and Ijaza (Hafs An Asim) in 1998, Ustadh Fahad was Imam and Khateeb in Jeddah for five years before he decided to focus his efforts on his true love, the Arabic language.

Shaikh Fahad Alghamdi has been a Quran hifz teacher throughout his journey of more than 25 years in both Saudi Arabia and The United States.
Upon relocating to the United States, Ustadh Fahad went on to complete his MBA from Texas A&M. Currently, Ustadh Fahad is the head of Quran and Arabic Departments at Islamic School of Irving.

He currently lives in Farmers Branch, TX with his family.

Irvin Almazan

College & Career Counselor

Mr. Almazan is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside; with a Master’s of Educational counseling degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Mr. Almazan is passionate in working with ISI students and has become a visionary leader with new projects and processes to improve and help innovate the Islamic school of Irving. By tracking data, and adapting to new trends, Academic Advising is an educational process that facilitates a student’s understanding of the meaning and purpose of higher education and fosters their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and lifelong learning. Mr. Almazan evaluates transcripts, helps students enroll for college coursework, tracks progress toward high school completion, and prepares degree plans.

Imam Sh. Hasan Khalil

School Imam & Fundraiser

Imam Hasan Khalil is an Imam, a national/international da’iyah, and an educator for the past 30 years plus. He has served and occupied many multifunction’s position like: Teaching, counseling, school boards, Imam Council, youth director, Quran competitions lead judge, advisor, police/clergy partnership, radio stations guest, a promotional speaker, a fundraiser, local and international speaker in conferences, universities, schools, churches, interfaith dialogues, and more. He acquired a bachelor and a master degree in sharee’ah from the American Open University, and was an instructor at Mishkat university and Almaghreb institute. Currently, he hosts “Pillars Friday youth program” at Dar El Quran in Arlington, Imam Hasan has been with ISI for over 20 years. He is married and has 4 boys & 2 girls who were proud ISI students. Imam Hasan is from Palestine and resides in Grand Prairie/Mansfield Texas.

Mohamed Bounemri

Athletic and P.E. Department Head

Mohamed Bounemri has invested the last 22 yrs in Islamic schools, 15 of them at ISI. He has been involved with teaching health, PE and different athletic programs at ISI. He held a blue belt in Judo at the age of 9 and he is a USA Archery level 2 instructor and trainer. Graduated from a university in Algeria with a BA in sports management where he was very fortunate to be mentored by some of the top successful leaders in sports.
Mohamed held an athletic trainer certificate in the state of Florida and is a certified Physical Education Teacher. His aim is to help our young muslims to live a healthy active lifelong life and create opportunities for students-athletes to reach their highest potential.

Sr. Kendra Montemayor earned her bachelor ‘ s degree in University Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas. She has been teaching Texas History and U.S. History at the Islamic School of Irving since 2014. Sr. Kendra is a member of both the Administrative and Leadership teams at ISI and in addition to those roles she serves as the Associate Athletic Director, and she coaches girls ‘ volleyball and basketball at ISI as well. She loves being a part of the ISI family and looks forward to enjoying many more years with her ISI community.

Hannah Shilleh

For the past seven years, Sister Hannah has taught Physical Education for grades Kindergarten and ninth grade, inspiring students to grow not only in their athletic abilities but also in teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence.

This year will be the first year Sister Hannah joins the leadership team. She cherishes the opportunity to work closely with students, guiding them both inside and outside the classroom, and building meaningful connections that last beyond the school year.

In addition to her teaching and leadership roles, Sister Hannah is an active PTO member for the past five years, helping organize initiatives that strengthen the bond between families, staff, and the school community. As a proud ISI parent, her two children also attend the Islamic School of Irving, making her commitment to our school both professional and personal.

Abdullah Wafy

Abdullah Ahmad Wafy is a teacher of Islamic Studies, English Language Arts, History and a junior Full Stack Software Engineer. He has knowledge and skills in various fields not limited to Islamic sciences, academic subjects, technologies, finance & investments, and languages while aspiring to always learn more. Formerly, Abdullah has served in the capacity of high-school single-subject instructor teaching Computer Science beginners Frontend Software Engineering and AP (Advanced Placement) World History for sophomores – each a one year course – at the Islamic School of Irving, while also teaching Middle School US History to 8th graders.  He is a UC Davis alumnus, having earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Civilizations with an emphasis in the Ancient Greek and Classical Latin languages and literatures.  Moreover, Abdullah is a certified college tutor and fluent in English, Dari-Farsi (Classical Eastern Persian), and Classical Arabic.  Currently, he resides in the DFW Metroplex happily with his wife and three children.

A combination of a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies  from university of Khartoum and an educational certification in early childhood education from Florida Atlantic University brings a unique perspective to her role as a Daycare and Preschool Director.

Having worked in the childcare field for 20 years, including 12 years at the Islamic School of Irving, demonstrates her expertise and long-term dedication to the well-being and development of children. 

She values her role in serving the Muslim community and contributing positively to the lives of our young children and their families. Sr. Saeda’s goal of creating a loving and safe environment aligns perfectly with the needs of young learners and their families.

Sr. Saeda is a Licensed Director designated by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
